Chalk Teeth’s “Floor It” is a prayer to the Ocean.
shot and edited by Adam Wallace
“Floor It” is a prayer to the ocean, that it might cleanse a thousand cuts through its enveloping embrace or total oblivion. Chalk Teeth’s second single, leading up to the release of their debut album this summer, “Floor It” ramps up the BPM from their first single “Struck.” The song begins with a reverb-soaked 808 beat that re-imagines Charanjit Signh’s 1982 “Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat” under the influence of Martin Rev and Ike Yard before dropping out and re-igniting in the second half with seasick synth strings and modal distorted guitars.“The ocean” stands in for the abstracted idea of surrendering to a large overwhelming force, losing yourself dancing in a crowd, existing outside of time as a brief respite from a world on fire.
Accompanying the single release is a complementarily abstract and hypnotic music video shot and edited by band member Adam Wallace (Guitar), filmed guerrilla style at night in various spots around East Hollywood, featuring the rest of the band, Karolina Wallace (Vocals, guitar) and Jason Miller (synths, beats, bass, production). The DIY approach to the video mirrors the production of the album, which was written, recorded, and mixed by Chalk Teeth at their rehearsal space, embracing human imperfection and direct, hands-on interpretation of artist intent in conscious opposition to AI.

Chalk Teeth Unveil Hypnotic Dark Wave Debut Single “Struck”
Directed by Thomas Revington
Chalk Teeth haven’t slowed down for a moment. Throughout 2025, the Los Angeles–based trio — Karolina Wallace (vocals, guitar), Adam Wallace (guitar), and Jason Miller (bass, synths, drums, production, engineering) — split their time between stages in L.A. and New York, steadily sharpening their live presence. That momentum now carries into their next chapter: the band’s debut album, slated for release in early 2026.
Before the full-length arrives, Chalk Teeth are officially unveiling “Struck,” a track longtime fans may recognize from the group’s live sets, where it has been a consistent highlight since 2024.
“Struck” captures the band’s sonic identity in full: a dense blend of shoegaze textures and motorik dark wave, layered with blackened synths, sheets of noise-soaked guitar, Polish vocals, and the unyielding drive of a drum machine. Chalk Teeth describe their goal as creating a hypnotic, ritual-like dance experience, and the track delivers — unfolding as a slow-burn, minimal wave ballad centered on obsession, tension, and release.
The single is accompanied by a stark black-and-white video directed by filmmaker Thomas Revington, filmed inside an airplane hangar repurposed as a wrestling gym, adding a raw physicality to the song’s atmosphere.
Details around the album’s title and exact release date remain under wraps, but the record was written, recorded, and mixed entirely by the band at their North Hollywood rehearsal space, underscoring the project’s fully DIY spirit.
